The Studio D’Artisan Black Kasuri Dyed Beach Cloth Pants merge Japanese Kasuri dyeing traditions with the historic American beach cloth, a fabric originally developed in the early 1900s for laborers on the harsh, cold East Coast. By intertwining threads of different colors in an irregular weave, the fabric develops a unique, textured surface with a random, salt-and-pepper effect - a characteristic that earned it the nickname "Goma-Shio" (sesame salt) in Japan.

Beach cloth was widely used for physically demanding jobs like mountaineering and forestry work, where durability and insulation were essential.
