Drawing inspiration from ancient poetry, the “Murasame” Selvedge jeans embody the spirit of village rain (村雨) - a sudden, shifting rainfall known for its fleeting intensity. In folklore, "Murasame" is also the name of a mystical blade, said to be so cold it could cause raindrops to hiss into steam upon contact. This dual meaning of nature’s transience and the sharp edge of steel echoes throughout the fabric of this striking denim.

Crafted from a proprietary 17oz. slub selvedge, the denim’s irregular texture and deep, smokey indigo hue conjures the drama of a stormy sky. Using a very deep rope-dyed indigo, Samurai recreates the feel of an overcast sky heavy with shifting clouds. The slub yarns bring an organic texture that fades uniquely with the texture accentuated due to the factory wash process that the jeans undergo.

The new "Relax Straight" cut is based on Samurai's WWII S3000VX model, and features a relaxed top block along with a lengthier inseam.
