Without a compromise on quality, as to be expected from our friends at Samurai, this hoodie offering from Samurai is a heavier weight fabric that will act as a perfect layer during the colder months ahead. 

Built from Samurai’s signature extra-heavyweight jersey, the fabric is crafted using No.10 open-end yarns which already among the thickest typically used for jersey. These are twisted into a two-ply thread equivalent to No.5. This is the kind of thread more commonly found in denim than in knitted jersey, and it lends the hoodie a presence and density that sets it apart.

The open-end spinning process, known in Japan as kūbōshi ito (air-spun yarn), imparts a unique character to the cloth. By harnessing air to bind shorter, thicker fibers, the yarn develops natural irregularities, creating a rugged, slub-like texture. At the same time, pockets of trapped air within the fibers generate a dry, firm touch, and alive with tactile personality. Knitted into jersey, this results in a surface that is grainy, weighty, and immensely durable.

Unlike fleece-backed sweat fabric, this hoodie’s jersey knit has no pile interior, which gives it surprising versatility across seasons. It insulates with sheer density in colder months, while remaining wearable during transitional weather thanks to its breathable structure.
