The Studio D'Artisan "Vietnam War" Selvedge Jeans are a reimagining of what a true "war model" might have looked like had it been produced in the 1960s. During World War II, strict material regulations led to the simplification of many products, including jeans. Factories repurposed existing stock fabrics and trims, while unnecessary details were eliminated to maximize efficiency. Skilled sewing craftsmen were drafted for military uniform production, leaving denim manufacturing in the hands of less-experienced workers. As a result, jeans from this era featured crude stitching and unpolished details.

Yet, the very imperfections and ruggedness of these wartime jeans have become a rare and sought-after characteristic in the modern era. Inspired by this historical backdrop, Studio D’Artisan have crafted a pair of jeans that blends historical accuracy with creative interpretation. The design explores how denim might have evolved under the constraints of the Vietnam War era - considering how the cut, stitching, and details would have been further simplified while still maintaining functionality.
